Elijah Mareko -

Elijah has represented Aotea College over the last 4 years as our top Basketball referee. During 2021 he has refereed in CSW Summer Series, 3x3 and CSW Jnr & Snr College basketball. He refereed the final of U19 Boys at Maori Basketball NZ Nationals and attended BBNZ U17 nationals where he refereed the 5th and 6th place U17 Girls game.

Elijah assisted in running referee workshops for students prior to the basketball season in Term 1 and mentored Aotea College referees in Term 2 and 3.

In March, Elijah played for and was the team's umpire for the Aotea Snr Boys Volleyball team at College Volleyball Nationals in Palmerston North.

Student Coach of The Year

Cam Linkhorn

Cam has coached Junior Basketball for the last two years and in 2021 his Aotea green team was undefeated.

Gary Marshall Cup Service to Sport

Jointly awarded to Tapenesa Mareko and Nathan Greenough.

Nathan is Captain of the boys hockey team and has played Hockey for Aotea College over the last 5 years. In 2021 he mentored a year 10 boy to be the Aotea College future goal keep and represented Wellington Hockey U18 Mens team.

Tapanesa has organised Aotea College rip Rugby teams over the last two years, Aotea has fielded over 20 teams at these events.

Brian Chapman Shield for Team of the Year

Senior A1 Boys Volleyball.

This team has worked hard over the last four years to earn the right to be in the CSW premier boys volleyball competition, they achieved this in 2020 and in 2021 went on to make the final of CSW Boys Premier Volleyball, narrowly losing in the final. The team showed through hardwork and dedication you can make CSW top grade and perform in this grade.

Harry Ngata Shield All-Rounder of the Year

Tatiana Mareko

Tatiana is the MVP for U15 girls rugby, Senior A Volleyball and Senior A Basketball, she attended Western zones and competed in shot put and discus, is a student coach for volleyball,and a student referee for basketball. In 2021 she was a Wellington Basketball U15 Representative and was named in the BBNZ U15 nationals tournament team.

Dave Vincent

Dave has worked tirelessly to rebuild cricket at Aotea College after 10 years with no cricket

teams. In term 4 of 2020 he pulled together enough boys for a junior T20 team.

In term 1 of this year we had enough players for a yeatr 9 T20 team and a year 10 T20 team,

Dave Coached Aotea Blue and they made the final of their grade.

Looking towards 2022 Aotea College is now looking forward to a 1st XI senior team and at

at least one junior T20 team.

Dave works hard to support cricket at Aotea College but also supports basketball and rugby

teams at training and games.

Manager of the Year

Sheree Marsh

This has been the second year that Sheree has managed the boys U15 rugby team, she strongly believes that rugby is a great way to develop young men of the future and challenges the boys to develop their character, build leadership and build a brotherhood among the team. The players know that Sheree will be there to support them in all aspects. I’m sure the U15 rugby players and their parents and caregivers will all agree this award is well deserved.

Teresa Orr Junior Sportswoman of the Year

Serianna Siliga

Serianna trialled and made the A1 Senior Girls Volleyball team as a year 10 in 2021 and is a member of our very successful U15 girls Rugby team. Serianna is an excellent athlete who competes hard and is looking to improve her skills.

Paul Latham Junior Sportsman of the Year

Lui To'omaga Tapuai

A year 9 student Lui played in the Junior A Basketball team, won discus throw at western zone athletics, was named Junior athlete of the year for Athletics and attended CSW regional athletics, he was named MIP for Aotea College Bowls and represented Aotea College for indoor bowls regional competition. Lui is a Wellington Bowls Age Group representative.

Olivia Baker Shield for Sports Woman of the Year

Torren Isaako

Torren is an outstanding student and has been a major contributor to Aotea College sport over the last 5 years. This year Torren made the National Development netball squad, Central Manawa Netball squad and team, Central Manawa Pulse team, Wellington Opens team as well as U18 Wellington Netball representative. She is also our A1 Senior netball captain.

Don Macfarlane Shield for Sportsman of the Year

Tuli Asa

Tuli has had an excellent season making the Wellington Regional Volleyball U19 Black team,

he is the MVP Aotea Basketball A1 Senior boys and refereed CSW Junior Basketball for Aotea

College. He is a key player in all of his teams and is a hardworking, respectful young man.
