We support the School Sports Clubs, Teams, Academies, Convenors, Coaches and Managers.
Sports enquiries which cannot be answered by the website or the Convenor for the sport can be directed to the sports department team above.
Nurture your child’s love of the sport and their appreciation of physical activity.
Encourage children to always play according to the rules.
Show respect for your team’s opponents. Without them there would be no game.
Focus upon each child’s efforts and performance rather than the overall outcome of the event. This assists each child in setting realistic goals related to their ability by reducing the emphasis on winning.
Teach children that an honest effort is as important as victory, so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.
Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities and provide positive role models for your children, other spectators and coaches.
Demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not using foul language or yelling at or harassing players, coaches, officials or umpires.
Never ridicule or shout at a child for making a mistake or losing a game.
Remember that children learn best from example. Applaud any good play by both teams.
Please contact your child's coach or manager if you are unsure as to whether a practice session is still happening due to inclement weather; this decision is NOT made by staff at school. If we are advised that practices are cancelled, or the grounds are closed, we will advise students via their school email and their parents/caregivers with their contact email address.
Coaches and/or Managers are needed for almost all teams at Aotea College, without a coach or manager a team may not be able to compete. If you are interested in either role please contact the sports department. In many cases it can be a shared role with another parent.
